Capella Hotel, Sydney

The former Departments of Education and Lands buildings in Bridge Street, Sydney have been restored and transformed into the Capella Hotel. The heritage values of the site were distilled in a Heritage Interpretation Plan that developed sympathetic interventions and installations for the buildings.
Late 18th and 19th century archaeological fragments discovered during the renovation have been displayed over a colonial map of Sydney by the convict, Francis Fowkes. Photographs by Freeman Ryan Design.
